We present TOOLKIT for crisis communication

In today’s rapidly changing world, any organisation, regardless of size, can suddenly face a crisis. Often, how an organization responds to it will determine its reputation and long-term business success. Today, the challenges for organisations continue to grow in light of ever evolving societal and media pressures, and there are increasing expectations placed on crisis communications. It has to be effective, fast and understandable to the audience.

The CCNE TOOLKIT , created by consultants from agencies across the Crisis Communications Network Europe, of which 24/7Communication is a member, can be helpful in planning a crisis communication  strategy. CCNE is a network of independent European communication and consulting agencies providing top-quality services and advice in the field of crisis communication.  The crisis insights in the TOOLKIT therefore come from different member countries, but are versatile enough to be applied to home markets.

We believe in the value of being prepared and gaining resilience for a crisis before it arrives. That is why we are pleased to be able to present the TOOLKIT, a proposal for concrete tools, tips and guidelines for crisis communications. The document was created in the CCNE Product and Business Development Committee, which is chaired by our agency, says Anna Twardowska, Senior Advisor at 24/7Communication.

The ‘crisis toolkit’ has been developed to support organisations in effectively managing difficult situations that may affect their future success and reputation. The insights are divided into three sections, i.e. actions before, during and after a crisis. These include tips for communicating with the media during a crisis, recommendations for the use of factsheets, a ‘traffic light’ methodology for assessing a crisis situation, guidance in selecting anti-crisis training or a description of special crisis team meetings such as ‘hot debriefs’. As well as being a source of inspiration or a spark for discussion, these resources can also be used directly in crisis plans, training and crisis response strategies.

Crisis communications and responding to issues is often governed by core principles. In this toolkit we break down some of these principles in an accessible and digestible way — making the process clear and interesting for anyone seeking to deepen their knowledge in this field, says Joe MacIntyre of the British agency Alder, which is a member of the CCNE.

24/7Communication, one of the largest strategic communications agencies in Poland, joined Crisis Communications Network Europe in February 2024.The mission of the CCNE network is to enhance the growth and development of its members, agencies, and clients through strong relationships. The network focuses on strong collaboration between member agencies, organises inspiring, collaborative events and stimulates creative thinking based on innovative solutions. It is also a space for the exchange of ideas that positively influence professional support in corporate crisis communications.
